Decatur, Georgia Wedding Photographer | Ijams Nature Center | Knoxville, Tennessee Destination Wedding

Earlier this summer this Decatur, Georgia wedding photographer had the pleasure to photograph this wedding in Knoxville, Tennessee.  Knoxville is a really cool little town if you’ve never been, and this wedding was wonderfully cool itself.  Completely laid back, but maintaining it’s chic elegance.  The shoot began with a rehearsal dinner at the bride’s favorite yoga studio, The Glowing Body.  I adore an ‘unconventional’ venue space.  This was no exception.  The studio was bright and full of happy energy.  What could be better for the occasion?  The next morning I returned to the yoga studio to snap a few images of the bride and a few of her gal pals as they jump started the day with a little yoga practice.  I found this to be most fantastic.  I’ve practiced yoga off and on for nearly 20 years, and can’t imagine a better starting point for what can be one of the most stress-inducing days of your life. 

After our morning yoga I met up with the ladies at Lox Salon in downtown Knoxville, a  little salon with a rock n’ roll flavor in one of the historic storefronts.  While the ladies were getting glammed up by the artists of Lox I photographed all of the little moments, and played with the dress and jewelry.  This gown was purchased at one of my favorite bridal salons:  Sweet Elegance Bridal Salon in Decatur Georgia.

I love the choice of wardrobe for the guys at this one.  If you are having a southern, summer, outdoor, wedding in the afternoon you don’t want to force all the men into 3 piece rentals do you?  That’s just mean.  Let them breath a little in this great bow tie and vest look.  I think it’s super handsome, and your groom will thank you.  :)

The Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville is a lovely spot for a small wedding.  There are gardens to meander about, and it feels very untouched.

Atlanta Wedding Photographer | Destination Photographer | Santa Barbara and Beverly Hills

Earlier this month I had the pleasant surprise to land an amazing gig on the west coast.  Most people know me as a wedding photographer in Atlanta, as I have been a part of over 600 weddings in my career.  Others may know me as a portrait photographer with subjects ranging from newborns to families.  I am ALWAYS ready to wear the badge of DESTINATION PHOTOGRAPHER. 

This adventure began with a private flight from Atlanta to Santa Barbara.  I was hired by two families to cover all of the fun on their exciting spring break getaway.  Because a family vacation is of a private nature I don’t have any photojournalism coverage to share, but I thought I’d share some of the beautiful sights along the way on this luxe trip………….

It’s always hard to be in Santa Barbara, and not feel completely and totally happy to be there.  It’s a beautiful place.  I am always obsessed with the foliage of Santa Barbara.

Our first stop was the fantastic San Ysidro Ranch.  San Ysidro Ranch is understated luxury all around.  The resort consists of a cluster of uber private bungalows tucked onto the hillside.  The place is covered in wisteria, rosemary, bougainvillea, and lemon trees.  It smells like all of these things dancing on the ocean air.  It’s truly phenomenal.

There were many celebrity sightings on this trip.  This was a quick shot of Hilary Duff and her husband, hockey player Mike Comrie.  I assume this was a ‘babymoon’ of sorts as they got married at the ranch.   I couldn’t help sneaking one shot of these two as they were sitting only a few feet away, but left it at that.  I’m not a rat. 

Santa Barbara has some stunning golf clubs.  We took a quick tour of a couple.  We don’t have courses with views like this in Atlanta.

We didn’t dine here at Tydes in The Coral Casino Private Club, but the view was too fantastic.

We left Santa Barbara for Beverly Hills.  It’s funny how different the two spots feel.  In Santa Barbara I was inspired by the vegetation, beautiful diffused light, and crisp ocean air.  Beverly Hills was bright, sharp, and tingled with energy.  I loved getting these two amazing cities as inspiration in one trip.

To stay in the presidential bungalow at The Beverly Hills Hotel is a once in a lifetime experience(though I am determined to make a repeat happen one day).  It’s the best of the best!

Luxury, luxury, luxury!  The decor of the living area in the bungalow was perfect.  I sat in that leather chair in the corner every night.  Wish I could have taken it home with me.

I was thrilled to get the chance to see the new Cirque du Soleil show OVO at the Santa Monica Pier.  It was a fantastic show!

Now THIS was exciting for me.  I saw Paris Hilton, Kelsey Grammer, Lenny Kravitz, Ben Stein, William Levy……..but Rachel Zoe took the cake for this gal.  I am obsessed with all of the Bravo shows, but have always thought that Zoe is a brilliant fashion maven.

Check out day arrived, and it was back on the plane to Atlanta.  What a fantastic time.  If you have an extra special trip coming up I would love to tag along to capture every minute.  It’s a great thing to relax in the moment knowing that Photo By Gannon is along to save every memory for you, and even be an extra hand to help out with the kids.  Maybe you don’t need to bring that travel nanny along after all?  Hmmmmmm……….

Atlanta Wedding Phographer|Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

This Atlanta wedding photographer recently had the pleasure to photograph this fantastic couple in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  We had a blast doing a little island hopping, and using nature as our backdrop.  The South Carolina coast as the sun is setting is a beautiful place to be. This cute couple got married two years ago, but never had an engagement portrait session. It was my great pleasure.

For the 4th of July this year Photo By Gannon headed up to Boston and Cape Cod to have some fun, and take some great photographs.  While there I had a blast visiting some of the most historic sites in Boston before heading out to the Cape.  There is nothing like being in Cape Cod for what is the most American day of the year.  I ate my weight in seafood, sampled summer ales, and was on a bike more than I was in a car.  Nice. 

It was surreal to be strolling past the graves of Hancock and Revere with musicians in period garb marching by with their drums and flutes.  It was such a scene, and the energy was intoxicating.

Boston is just one of those towns where I can walk around all afternoon and people watch.  I loved this sweet couple in The Common.  They were napping so perfectly. 

Heading out of Boston, the energy just continues after you hit Rt-6.  It is the drag that runs through the heart of the Cape.  The vibe on the Cape is, for lack of a better word, CHILL.  It is all about hanging out.  Sure you can find a little ruckus if you look for it, but for the most part it’s about early morning bike rides, seafood lunches, and getting on or at least near the water.

On the actual 4th of July I headed to Provincetown for the day.  First of all, P-town is gorgeous.  The town, which is perfect New England lovliness, is surrounded by magnificent dunes.  I showed up early to catch the parade, which is teaming with creative floats and fun-loving locals.  It is an explosion of all things red, white, and blue!

After enjoying the parade, and an al fresco lunch it was time for whale watching.  I climbed aboard one of the fine Dolphin Fleet vessels.  The trip began with beautiful views of P-town and the Puritan Tower as you set out toward the Atlantic.  I never expected to see so many beautiful whales on this trip.  I must have seen 15-20 humpbacks!  It was incredible, and I was so touched by the experience of seeing these giants in the wild.

After the positively spiritual experience of hanging out with the humpbacks it was time to grab a quick and delicious dinner at Bayside Betsy’s before enjoying the fireworks.  It was a brilliant holiday!  On my last day in Cape Cod I made a quick pilgrimage to The Edward Gorey House.  I have been a lifelong fan of his work, and was really happy to be able to visit the home of one of my favorite creatives.  It was a really nice way to end the trip, and brought back many fond memories of exploring his books with my father when I was a child.  Check out the most gigantic cat I have ever seen having the run of the place at the Gorey house!
