This wedding photographer lives for destination weddings.  I’m lucky to do quite a few every year.  I approach destination weddings a little different than my ‘local’ weddings.  Because the chosen destination is such a major aspect of the couples’ wedding weekend I come in early to give the location a little love.  I photograph it like I would a VIP guest of the wedding.  In this case, it was stunning, boho, mountainous Asheville, North Carolina.  This one was fairly close to my home base of Decatur, Georgia.  After spending a day in town photographing the area, and then photographing the rehearsal dinner, it was time for the wedding day.  We began our shoot at Haywood Park Hotel in downtown Asheville, where I met up with a gorgeous bevy of ladies as they got glammed up for the big day.  This entire wedding weekend went off without a hitch, and we can all thank the fabulous(and gorgeous) Sara Fields of Wedding Connections.  Planning a North Carolina wedding?  Do yourself a fave, and talk to Sara.  🙂

After taking the gals and guys around downtown Asheville for some fabulous cityscape portraits, we headed to the stunning ceremony location.  Grace Episcopal Church, sits on a hill just a bit out of downtown Asheville.  It’s such a pretty little church, stone facade, and a bright red door.  I fell in love with that red door, and how it popped loudly off the cool winter light.

This perfectly lovely Asheville destination wedding finished off at The Crest Center and Pavilion, a venue offering views in every direction.  We had such a romantic and dramatic sky that evening.  I love some clouds with attitude!

After 700 weddings, it is rare to see something super new.  A bride in a designer gown sabering a bottle of champs?  That is new and AWESOME!!!
