Family portraits are fabulous for a lot of reasons.  Family portraits take me from Decatur to every corner of Georgia, and these sessions are light and fun.  I think the best thing about working with families is that every year I get to catch up with them, watch them grow in front of my lens.  I get a kick out of it.  True, I’m not curing any diseases, but I feel that the work is important.  I’m helping a family memorialize their own little history.  It’s intimate, and it’s special to me.  🙂  I adore this little family!  They are so cute together, no?  We met outside of Gainesville, Georgia for this one.

Every portrait session is about making my clients feel at ease, and using my creative eye to capture the moment in a beautiful way.  With little children, I watch.  I let them be themselves.  I direct in a way that they don’t know they are being directed.  That’s the trick.  🙂

I always try to steal a minute away with my moms.  Moms just don’t end up in as many family pictures as they should!  And these beautiful, strong women rarely are in a photograph alone it seems.
